China Aquafeed Production and Price Trend in 2018

First, the downstream price stimulates feeding, and the sales growth trend has emerged
The amount of aquatic feed fed by aquaculture farmers is directly affected by the price of aquatic products, and when the price of aquatic products is high, it will stimulate farmers to increase the feeding volume in order to accelerate the speed of aquatic products to market, thereby increasing the demand and sales of aquatic feed; Conversely, when the price of aquatic products is low, farmers will reduce the amount of feed or abandon aquatic product farming, thereby reducing the demand for aquatic feed. By observing the growth rate of aquatic feed production and China's annual aquatic feed production, we find that the change trend of the two is basically the same.
Taking the four large carp as an example, according to data, in January 2018, the average prices of carp, silver carp and grass carp other than crucian carp increased by 1%, 1.8% and 2.3% respectively year-on-year. The increase in aquaculture profits has led to an increase in fish feeding, stimulated the demand for aquatic feed from farming, and increased feed sales.
Second, consumption upgrading is accelerating, and feed consumption efficiency is increasing
With the continuous improvement of China's people's income and living standards, the traditional four big fish have long been unable to meet people's consumption needs, and today, the more popular products in the market are high-end aquatic products such as shrimp and crabs, special fish, etc. In order to seek higher profits and incomes, farmers are gradually abandoning the traditional four large fish products in favor of high-end aquatic products that are more popular in the market. For example, the production of vannamei shrimp increased from 2003.2016 thousand tons to 296.3 thousand tons from 739 to 9, with an average annual compound growth rate of 7.92%; Blackfish production increased from 177.4 thousand tons to 517.9 thousand tons, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.34%.
Third, the aquaculture structure is optimized, and the sales volume of aquatic materials is outstanding
